Paul LaPointe, II, PR, DPT, is now recognized as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). Paul works out of our Hampton physical therapy clinic. Orthopaedic clinical specialists are not just physical therapists but experts specializing in orthopedics. Earning the OCS credential is a mark of advanced skills, training, and experience. These specialists are widely recognized in the industry for their advanced clinical proficiency in orthopaedic physical therapy, a testament to the prestige of the OCS certification.
"I wanted to get my OCS to stay current with the research and treatment options in orthopaedics. It also allows me to take more of a leadership role and treat patients to recover quicker and more thoroughly," said Paul.
The OCS is an advanced certification in preventing and treating muscles, bones, and joints. This certificate formally recognizes physical therapists with expert knowledge and working experience in orthopaedics.
Although a physical therapist has already completed extensive training and education, there are still two more steps if wanting to become an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist:
OCS certification coursework and residency provide the clinician with a more in-depth understanding of managing orthopedic conditions. The OCS framework utilizes the best evidence to achieve better patient outcomes.
Congratulations, Paul, on this achievement.
