Hand Therapy

Robert M. Campolattaro, M.D.

Hand Therapy After Surgery

Following your surgery, your hand therapy appointment will typically be scheduled at either our Hampton or Williamsburg location, conveniently located within the same building as your physician's office. In some cases, insurance requirements may necessitate therapy services at an outside facility. If this applies to you, our scheduling team will discuss those arrangements when your surgery is scheduled.

Hand therapy is a specialized rehabilitation service that is separate from your physician's postoperative appointment. Our experienced team of licensed occupational therapists and certified hand therapists specializes in the evaluation and treatment of conditions affecting the hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity.

At your initial therapy visit, your therapist will evaluate and address:

  • Wound and incision care
  • Swelling (edema) management
  • Range of motion and mobility
  • Pain management strategies
  • Custom splint fabrication and fitting, when prescribed by your physician
  • Postoperative rehabilitation and recovery planning

Our highly trained hand therapy team works closely with your physician to help you achieve the best possible outcome following surgery.

Insurance & Payment Information

Please note that hand therapy services are billed separately from your surgical care and postoperative physician visits. If your insurance plan requires a therapy co-payment, payment will be due at the time of service. Therapy visits and associated co-payments are not included in the 90-day postoperative global surgical period.
