Dupuytren's Disease Surgery

General Timeline: 
 
Surgery:

 Immediately following surgery, your hand will be wrapped in a supportive dressing and Ace wrap until your 3-5 day follow up with Hand Therapy. 
 
3-5 day follow up with Hand Therapy:

 Incision check/range of motion check

 Post-op incision care instructions(okay to wash incision with warm water and antibacterial soap)

 Custom hand splint designed, if needed  
 
2 week follow up visit with physician assistant:

 Suture removal  

 Incision check/range of motion

 Continue therapy and home exercise program 
 
6 week follow up visit with the physician:

 Range of motion check

 Continue hand therapy vs. home exercise program 
 
What to expect after Dupuytren's Disease Surgery:  
 
 Increased difficulty doing basic tasks (especially during the first 2 weeks following surgery)  

 Pain, soreness, sensitivity, and discomfort around incision site

 Residual sensitivity around incision site

 Immediate resolution of major contracture – reword?  

 Gradual resolution of stiffness and soreness in the following 4-6 months after surgery
